Reminds me of my 65 c10 fleetside shortbed I owned when I was 17. The body was mint, had a 250 I6. The PO had swapped the 3-on-the-tree for a traditional floor shifter, except he used a short shifter for a car. Driving ended up being a chore as the clutch came up to about the bottom of the dash, it had a giant manual steering wheel, and the shifter was about 8" from the floor.
Ended up swapping in an auto when the clutch gave up. It was much more enjoyable to drive then. I still miss that truck. Looked like this, only red/white:
